There is another new study which was published in the BMJ Global Health Journal that has studied the effects of increased red meat and processed meat consumption in 154 countries in the period between 1993 and 2018.  They found that there was an abrupt increase in diet-related diseases including colorectal cancer, diabetes, and coronary heart disease.  75% of the 154 countries had increases in death rates and years of life with a disability that could be directly attributed to the global meat trade, with deaths increasing by 55% and disability increasing by 71% in developed countries, while deaths in developing countries increased by 137%  and disability by 140%.

Food for thought as we get more and more evidence that an all or mostly plant-based diet is better for our health.
